Glasses & Contact Lenses
Over 140 million people in the U.S. wear eyeglasses and over 30 million wear contact lenses to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia and astigmatism. Eyewear may be used for certain activities, such as reading, driving or watching television, or may be worn at all times.

NVLC features a highly advanced on-site laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment for manufacturing our own lenses and performing specialized operations such as edging veneer lenses. Having this equipment available in the office means that we can fill a majority of our patients' prescriptions within two hours.
We have an optician who specializes in glasses fitting. He fills out the prescriptions Dr. Mang gives patients after their refractions, and also helps many people who come in on referrals from other physicians.

Our On-site Lab
Most optical shops take two weeks or even longer to make your glasses, no matter how simple your prescription is. Because we have an on-site lab, at NVLC we can make most glasses in the same day, including complex no-line bifocals/multifocals/progressives. Some special lenses do need to be sent off-site for manufacture, but even these are made at advanced laboratories and have a fast turnaround. Thin lenses are usually completed the next day. Frameless lenses take a little longer, but they are excellently crafted and our patients are always satisfied.
In the lab we have an Optical Dynamics machine that allows us to craft many people's lenses within a couple of hours. It cuts the lens and traces the grain to the shape of the selected frame. The whole process takes about 30-40 minutes. We have had the Optical Dynamic Machine for about five years. Other advanced equipment in our lab includes the 3-D Fit Patternless Edger and the TopCon. Not many ophthalmology practices have on-site labs, and even fewer have these kinds of machines that permit them to make lenses in-house.
